Canadian Roots, Proven Experience
Soletanche Bachy Canada was formed through the integration of two established Canadian foundation specialists: AGRA Foundations and Bermingham Foundation Solutions.
Together, these organizations brought decades of hands-on experience in foundations, shoring, and geotechnical construction across diverse Canadian ground conditions. Today, that experience continues through a unified team operating as Soletanche Bachy Canada.
Our history
1897
Bermingham Construction was founded in 1897 in Ontario by William Bermingham and was led by the Bermingham family for three more generations. Bermingham brought the first diesel hammer to North America in the early 1950’s and began developing their own line of specialty foundation equipment in the late 1960’s. The Berminghammer trade name is world-renowned for its reliability and innovation.
1956
AGRA Foundations was established in Saskatchewan under the name Western Boring and Foundations by civil engineer and avid entrepreneur Ben Torchinsky.
The company rapidly expanded throughout North America, establishing itself as a leader in the design and construction of foundations.
2010-2011
AGRA and Bermingham joined the Soletanche Bachy group of companies, a world leader in foundations, underground specialty works and soil technologies.
2019
Soletanche Bachy Canada Inc was formed through the amalgamation of AGRA Foundations and Bermingham Foundation Solutions.
